GCVS 2019 Newsletter Issue 3
A message from the Executive Director
Dear GCVS family,
I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful fall weather we’ve been having, and maybe even getting out to view the vibrant colors of the foliage. Our school community has been very active the past few months, and I’m happy to say that we’ve been able to join you at some of our outdoor meet-ups to learn about and explore our state.
Most recently, our high school students took a historic walking tour of Salem, learning about the important roles the city and its residents have played throughout the history of the United States. Our elementary and middle school students visited apple orchards in Amesbury, Belchertown, and Northborough for a day of learning about apples and agriculture while getting to know everyone in the GCVS community. We still have time for a few more meet-ups this fall, and you can read more about those below.
Our school nurse continues to conduct health screenings near you, with visits to Watertown and Springfield in the next few weeks. In academic news, some high school students have MCAS re-tests this month, and if this applies to you, you will have received notification in your email. All you have to do is respond and confirm your attendance.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
All the best,

Have You Heard About School Health Screenings Near You?
Our School Nurse, Bill Marrapese, RN, MSN, is traveling the state to provide free health screenings to our students. These hearing, vision, and postural screenings are required by state law and can be conducted by the school nurse or your pediatrician.
Mr. Marrapese will be in Watertown on November 8 and in Springfield on November 12 to conduct screenings.
