GCVS Newsletter Issue 11
A message from the Executive Director
Dear GCVS family,
Congratulations to everyone for finishing up a great school year, especially the graduating Class of 2019! We’re all very proud of the hard work you’ve put in and everything you’ve accomplished over the past year and beyond. To our graduating seniors, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. And to all of our students, we hope you have a wonderful summer!
We’ve opened up registration for returning students with an “intent to return” form. I encourage all of your to fill this out as soon as possible. And if you know of non-GCVS students who would enjoy and benefit from going to our school, our new student registration form is here: www.gcvs.org/enrollment-for-2019-2020-school-year/
We also have some exciting news! We’ve partnered with Greenfield Community College to offer the first 100% online dual enrollment program for high school students. High school students can earn college credit through this program, and if they’re motivated, they could even earn an associate’s degree while they finish their high school education. This program has zero-cost to our GCVS students, so I encourage you to take advantage of this and tell interested friends and family about it.
We’re also enrolling for summer school and credit recovery classes right now. We’re offering additional classes this year, and you can learn more in this newsletter and on our website.
We hope you have a wonderful summer and that we get to see you all in the fall!
All the best,
NOW OPEN: Re-Registration for 2019-2020 School Year
Thank you for your patience with regards to re-registering your student(s) for the 2019-2020 school year.
If your student is returning to GCVS for the 2019-2020 school year, the first step in reserving your spot for the next school year is filling out the Intent to Return form. Once you fill that out, you will receive a follow-up email that details the final steps to complete re-registration.
NEW – Dual Enrollment Program for High School
This new partnership with Greenfield Community College lets GCVS students take accredited colleges courses, entirely online. This means students from anywhere in Massachusetts can take advantage of:
- A no-cost-to-families college education headstart – there are no tuition costs, no fees, and no books to buy. Everything is included.
- 100% online classes – no need to travel to a college to earn credits, making it convenient for students across the state
- Earn credits and even an associate’s degree – these are fully accredited GCC courses, and the credits are accepted for transfer to other schools, or they can be applied toward a GCC degree program. Motivated students could even earn their associate’s degree at no cost
Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
We’re so proud of our entire Class of 2019, and they came from across the state to celebrate their graduation in Greenfield. These new GCVS almuni are talented, inspired, and intelligent young adults who have made brave and smart decisions about their futures. As they get ready to take their next steps into their futures, join us in congratulating them again and reliving the celebration.
GCVS Summer Classes
Once again, we’re offering summer courses to help students achieve their goals through credit recovery. These courses run from June 24 through August 9, and students may enroll in two courses (though more may be allowed on a case-by-case basis).
Courses are available in English-Language Arts, Math, History, and Science. You can find a full list here: https://www.gcvs.org/summer-school-2019/
