GCVS Turkey Trot 2017
Come one, come all! Students, staff, faculty, and family and friends – come join us for our first ever GCVS Virtual 5K/10K Turkey Trot!
It’s easy to do! Over the Thanksgiving Break (Wednesday, November 22nd – Sunday, November 26th), plan to walk or run 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles), record your turkey trot and send in your results! It doesn’t have to be done all at once and you can do it anywhere: in your neighborhood, on a trail, even on a treadmill! More information on this fun event can be found on our website by clicking here. There’s a downloadable bib and a place to send your results photos or any other photos of you and your group out on the trot. If you post to social media, tag it with #GCVSTurkeyTrot2017. This is a great way to get out there, bond with friends and family, and do a virtual fitness event – fitting for a virtual school!
Next week is the Thanksgiving holiday. School will be closed for students, faculty, and staff from Wednesday, November 22nd through Friday, November 24th. We hope you have the opportunity to spend the time with those you love. Take some time to reflect on things that you are thankful for as you celebrate the day. One good way to help students develop good listening and speaking skills is to have everyone at the table during your Thanksgiving meal say one thing they are thankful for. Another idea is to put a piece of white paper on the table and have everyone write down what they are thankful for. That’s a tradition we started at our house a few years back and we’ll continue it next week.
As I reflect on the things for which I am thankful, all of the students and families, faculty, and staff at GCVS will be on my list. I consider it a privilege to work in such a wonderful community of learners.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! Dr. Judith Houle, Executive Director
