School Outings

GCVS Visits the Eric Carle Museum

Last month, GCVS students, families and teachers visited the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts.

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire a love of art and reading through picture books.

Students explored the gallery, learning about “Treasures from the Collection,” an all-star lineup of work from the museum’s permanent collection.

Students tapped into their imaginations and created their very own Picture Art Book out of a variety of textured and colored paper.

All of our GCVS students had an opportunity to share their Picture Book Art creation and the story behind it with their teachers, families and friends.

School is about academics, of course – but it’s also about community. Community is built into the GCVS experience, with monthly outings that range from visits to museums, hiking and skating trips, and educational programs at local historical and cultural sites.

Parents, you are always welcome to attend any class outings. Outings are both fun and educational, often counting towards academic credits. Recent outings have included:

  • Back to School Picnics
  • Zoo Trips
  • Science Museum Trips
  • Skating Trips
  • Trips to Local Historical and Cultural Sites
  • Talent Shows
  • End of Year Picnics
