Adjustment Counseling
School adjustment counselors at GCVS promote a culture of wellness. We work with students and families individually and in small groups. We teach classroom lessons on social-emotional learning and executive function. In short, an adjustment counselor is a school-based therapist that has a unique academic perspective. Together we can discover tools and build skills to manage various mental health and cognitive issues that may impact your academic performance and well-being.

As one GCVS student put it, “Friends are really important… We help each other whenever we can, so it’s a two-way street, and supporting them uplifts me.”

My name is Nathan Hand, but I usually go by Nate. Before coming to GCVS, I was a therapist for 12 years specializing in working with kids and adults with different types of trauma in their backgrounds. I am a husband to my wife, Lauren, and a father to my kids, Sophie (age 13) and Grayson (age 11). I have two cats, Graylee and Groot, and I live in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, the home of Old Sturbridge Village and lots of mosquitos. When I am not working, you can find me playing guitar, building furniture, or annoying my cats and children. Please feel free to email me.
