Special Education

The goal of the GCVS special education team is to work with families and staff to provide the support students need to access the curriculum and develop the “whole child.” Upon enrollment, we review each student’s IEP to ensure a free appropriate public education (FAPE) within the virtual setting.

Our Support Services

Some of our support services include small group specialized instruction, academic support, counseling, behavioral support, online speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy. We provide all these services and support virtually and via the teletherapy model.

Our Special Education Staff

Our special education staff includes special education teachers (some of whom also support GCVS as special education coordinators and evaluation team leads at the elementary, middle, and high school grade levels), paraprofessionals, administrative assistants, a support center manager/assistant special education director, and a special education director.

Special education teachers provide inclusion support services for live lessons and small group support outside of the general education inclusion classroom. Our special education team works collaboratively with all other staff to appropriately and individually support students at every level.
